Even if a weapon is an antique or a museum-quality artifact, it is still treated as a threat by TSA. One traveler tried to carry on a historic blade, only to find that age doesn’t grant any special permissions.
If you have a unique piece of history you want to bring home, always place it in your checked luggage. It’s far better to pay a baggage fee than to watch a priceless artifact be tossed into a TSA bin.
