Udo Lindenberg kicked off his career as a drummer, later forming his band Free Orbit and performing as a guest musician. In 1972, he released his first German-language LP, “Daumen im Wind” (Thumbs in the Wind), and with the album “Andrea Doria,” he celebrated his breakthrough in the German music scene. The singles “Alles klar auf der Andrea Doria” (All’s well on the Andrea Doria) and “Cello” made him one of Germany’s most famous musicians.
Since 1990, Lindenberg has lived a large part of his life in a luxurious three-room suite at the Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg. The hotel, which opened in 1909 for passengers of the Hamburg-America Line, offers the rock star stylish digs. Lindenberg also owns an apartment in Berlin.
