Hasebe – The Giant Pink Rabbit
Scared of pink bunnies? What’s even scarier is a bunny that’s gigantic and decaying, turning gray with rot. This enormous rabbit was installed as an art installation in 2005 on a hillside in Coletto Fava, Northern Italy. Originally, it was a whopping 200 feet long and 20 feet high. The bunny appears to have fallen from the sky, with its ‘guts’ spilling out.
What was the purpose of this art piece? It’s said to be for visitors to experience what it might be like to be in the land of Lilliput from “Gulliver’s Travels.” Originally intended to stay for 20 years, its deadline is set for 2025, but the rabbit has been gradually losing its form due to the cold climate and the passage of time.
