Monkey Bridges (Vietnam)
Monkey Bridges in Vietnam are considered one of the most dangerous bridges in the world. The reason? They’re slender bridges made from bamboo logs with only one handrail. The rest of the construction is very simple, giving you the terrifying feeling that the bridge itself might break or that you’ll slip and fall. They’re called Monkey Bridges because the posture you take to balance so you don’t fall resembles a monkey.
Of course, the locals are used to them and cross with ease. By the way, Monkey Bridges aren’t just made of bamboo; they come in various versions and shapes. For example, some are crudely made from palm trees, and sometimes they don’t even have handrails. What they have in common is that space is left open for boats to pass underneath.
