The Bridge of Immortality (China)

In the Huangshan Mountains of eastern China, you’ll find an iconic stone arch bridge called the Bridge of Immortality. Sometimes referred to as the world’s highest bridge, even those without a fear of heights might find it a bit nerve-wracking to look down. The only certainty is that the bridge is made of stone, so the bridge itself is unlikely to collapse. It’s called the Bridge of Immortality in hopes that it will last forever.

Before 1987, there was no bridge, and people had to walk a very difficult path along an old trail. Many people collapsed and died along the way, which is why the Bridge of Immortality was built. By the way, the Bridge of Immortality is located in a tourist destination that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The scenery is breathtaking, but if you have a fear of heights, be sure to go with your doctor… or maybe just skip it!
