Edward Carnby, a private investigator specializing in the paranormal, teams up with his ex-girlfriend Aline Cedrac and detective Lt. Henshaw to stop an ancient evil force from invading our world through mysterious artifacts and experiments gone wrong in a modern setting.
The film is trashed for its incoherent plot that mashes Lovecraftian horror with video game adaptation tropes, terrible dialogue, and abysmal acting. Effects are cheap and dated, fight scenes chaotic and poorly choreographed, and the tone swings wildly from serious to campy without landing either.
