Directed by Uwe Boll, this adaptation is slammed for its video game cutscene style, wooden acting, laughable dialogue (“I’m gonna kick your zombie ass!”), and poor zombie makeup/effects that look like Halloween costumes. The plot is paper-thin, pacing erratic with random slow-motion and rock music overlays, and it feels like a low-budget cash-in. It’s infamous for Boll’s notorious reputation and the infamous “bonus footage” controversy, but stands as a hilariously bad zombie flick best enjoyed ironically—many regret it sober but love riffing on its absurdity.
