The doctors quickly got everything ready for the blood transfusion. They took Oscar’s blood, filled a bag with it, and then attached it to Lily. Each drip felt like an eternity, but everybody knew there was nothing more they could do except wait and hope for the best. Oscar stayed at his daughter’s bedside, silently willing her to show some sign of recovery. While he waited, he couldn’t stop thinking about the strange eggs that had caused all of this.
