Overdoing the Blush
Blush can be a wonderful tool in makeup—it warms the face, gives a natural flush, and brings a healthy radiance to the skin. But applying too much can tip your look from fresh to artificial in seconds. Bright, heavy-handed blush placements often result in a look that feels theatrical or outdated. This is especially noticeable as we age since excess pigment can sit on fine lines or emphasize facial features we might prefer to soften.
Subtlety is the secret. Use cream blush or finely milled powders and apply them gently to the apples of your cheeks with a light hand. Build up only if needed, and always blend well. Think soft rose or peach tones that mimic the natural flush of the skin. You’re not masking your age—you’re enhancing your natural glow. A youthful look comes more from balance and freshness than bold color.
