The Office is a Shoe-Free Zone
In parts of Finland and Japan, some workplaces have a strict “no shoes inside” rule, just like homes. Employees remove their footwear at the entrance and wear slippers or cozy socks throughout the workday—some even bring their favorite bunny slippers from home.
The idea is rooted in comfort and cleanliness. Workers say they feel more relaxed, grounded, and at home—literally. Meetings feel less stiff, and the floor stays sparkling. Plus, it makes for unexpectedly hilarious icebreakers when someone shows up in neon socks with cats on them.
