Urine Therapy
Believe it or not, people once drank their own urine for health reasons—and some still do. Ancient Indian and Chinese medicine praised “amaroli,” the practice of using urine as a cure-all for everything from acne to cancer. During World War II, soldiers reportedly drank urine to disinfect wounds and survive dehydration.
Urine is mostly water, but it also contains toxins your body is trying to eliminate. Applying or consuming it poses clear hygiene and health risks, especially when alternatives are available. While some still swear by urine therapy today, science offers no evidence of real benefit—and quite a bit of gag reflex instead.
