Kakum National Park Canopy Walkway (Ghana)
The canopy walkway in Kakum National Park is one of Ghana’s star attractions, stretching 350m long and reaching a height of 40m at its highest point. It’s said that there are only two canopy walkways in the entire African continent, and this one in Kakum National Park is one of them. The bridge is narrow, only wide enough for one person to pass at a time, making it a bit of a challenge to navigate. People who have crossed it report that the swaying of the bridge was more terrifying than the height itself.
However, the view from the bridge is incredibly impressive, offering a magnificent panorama that feels like something straight out of Jurassic Park. Regarding safety, the ropes are inspected and replaced every six months, which is said to make it relatively safe, but there’s no absolute guarantee. So, crossing the bridge promises a thrilling experience! Just be prepared – and try not to be *too* surprised if you happen to spot a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
