The humor comes from a cleverplay on words. On one hand, antennas are used to receive signals, so two antennas together would give astrong reception, which is the literal, technical meaning. On the other hand, “reception” also refers to thecelebration following a wedding, so the joke works as a pun, connecting the world of electronics with the world of weddings. That double meaning is what makes it a typical, groan-worthy dad joke.
