Things Looked Bad

All Oscar could do was stand beside his little girl’s bed and look at her. He wasn’t even allowed to hold her hand due to the risk of contracting the virus. Even Alex, who stood beside him, could offer little in the way of comfort. Everybody knew that things were looking bad. Lily was very sick with a relatively new virus that doctors were still trying to understand. The survival rate was low, especially for a child.
All anyone could do was hope that she’d pull through. The doctors were closely monitoring her condition and running tests, but they knew it might not be enough.
