A Distressing Scene
As soon as he stepped inside the room, Oscar was lost for words. His little girl was lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to a machine and an IV. Her eyes were closed, as though she were sleeping, and her skin was very pale. She looked sick, and whatever virus she had been infected with had spread fast. In a matter of hours, his energetic daughter had become terribly ill, and Oscar still didn’t know how it had happened.
But the question at the front of his mind was: would Lily survive? He didn’t want to think about it, but seeing her in that state made him consider all possible outcomes.
