Eagle Dung Supposed to Ease Childbirth

Childbirth has always been painful – but in the Middle Ages, people relied on strange remedies for relief. One supposed method involved rubbing the thighs of the woman in labor with a mixture of eagle dung and rosewater.

Midwives swore by it, hoping to ease the birthing process. Whether it actually helped is questionable – but the smell alone probably didn’t improve the situation.
