Check out Phyllis George, a beauty queen hailing from Denton, TX. First, she snagged the Miss Texas title back in 1970, and then she doubled down by nabbing the super prestigious Miss America title in ’71. On top of that, she was also the First Lady of Kentucky from ’71 to ’83. But get this – beyond just being a successful pageant queen, George was a total powerhouse – a businesswoman, actress, and even a sports commentator back in the day! Goes to show her talents were way more than skin deep.

Back in 1975, she joined the crew on *The NFL Today*, where she co-hosted live pre-game shows before the National Football League games. Big deal – George was one of the trailblazers, landing a major gig in national TV sports coverage and paving the way for tons of other women.
