That budget-brand peanut butter or “generic” cereal? There’s a good chance it’s made by the exact same factories that produce the big-name version. Many store brands are white-labeled products—identical formulas, different packaging.

Supermarkets save on marketing and sell under their own name, passing some savings to you while increasing profit margins. Sometimes the ingredients are tweaked slightly, but you’re often getting the same product at a lower price—just without the celebrity branding.
