That expensive olive oil with a fancy label or artisanal chocolate in rustic wrapping might be the same as the store-brand version—just with upscale packaging. “Gourmet” doesn’t always mean better; often, it means a better story printed on the box.
Rebranding is one of the easiest ways for supermarkets to turn ordinary products into high-margin sales. You’re paying more for font, paper texture, and maybe a French-sounding name. Unless you read the ingredient list or research the supplier, you may be buying style over substance.
