Vanessa Redgrave used her speech to rail against “Zionist hoodlums” protesting her pro-Palestine stance. When Paddy Chayefsky later presented an award, he publicly scolded her, saying he was “sick and tired” of people using the Oscars for personal propaganda and that a simple thank you would suffice.
