STREIFEN

Gesine Marwedel is the artist behind these captivating portraits. Hailing from Germany, she began her artistic career on canvas, initially painting faces after encouragement from her friend, photographer Thomas van de Wall. This led her to explore body painting, using the supple bodies of her dancer friends as her canvas. She mentions that her work can take up to 12 hours to complete.

When discussing her inspiration, she emphasizes that she sometimes can’t pinpoint the exact source of her ideas. However, when she is commissioned for her work, the client usually decides what she will paint. In addition, she draws inspiration from the scenes and impressions in her surroundings.
