THE ART OF KOI
It seems that Koi carp are an extremely popular choice for body art. These fish, now bred with pride and joy in Japan, are believed to have originated in the early 19th century. During this time, people began to breed Koi carp specifically for competitions. The color palette of these fish ranges from orange to white, yellow, and brown, to blue.
It is known that these cold-water fish can reach an impressive age. While the average lifespan of Koi fish is about 50 years, some of them have even reached the remarkable age of 200 years. One of these exceptional cases is Hanako, a Koi that was allegedly an astonishing 226 years old during an examination in 1974.
