A woman in Los Angeles called 911 claiming she was “being stalked online.” The emergency? Her Instagram post had gone viral, and she was receiving “too many likes” from strangers. She feared she was being “followed by bots or aliens.”
The dispatcher explained that likes aren’t dangerous and suggested turning off notifications. Still unconvinced, the woman said the attention felt “like psychic harassment.” The only crime? A massive case of social media anxiety.
