The Ice Cream Truck Is Too Loud

One summer day in New Jersey, a woman called the police to report an “unbearable noise disturbance.” Was it loud music? A party? Nope—it was the neighborhood ice cream truck. She claimed the jingle was “aggressive” and “disrupting her meditative flow.”

When officers arrived, they found a regular Mister Softee truck doing its rounds at 3 p.m. The jingle was exactly as you’d expect. They politely informed the woman that ice cream is not considered a weapon of mass irritation. She disagreed—and asked if they could ban sprinkles too.
