Or really any below the line crew position. Not “boring” by any means (to me), but pretty unassuming roles compared to others on set. At a minimum, I make about $800/day for labor only, but with a small van full of lights and rigging equipment, I’m able to bill an additional $500-1,800ish per day. Currently grossing about $200k per year between all my freelance gig, working about 1/3 as many days of the year as a typical full time 9-5 employee would. I did the math once and on a per work day basis, I make roughly the same amount as my medical doctor brother.
