Funny Slip
Even though it looks unusual, it’s also bizarre and humorous. As unlikely as it seems, these scenarios often happen. The boat in this picture is a sloop. Back in the day, they were the go-to type of pirate ship, designed to sail super fast with masts that swung across the water.
In modern times, a modern sloop is a sailboat with a single mast, a foresail, and a mainsail. A Bermuda rig or gaff rig is what you’ll find on most of these boats. It’s called a “fore-and-aft” rig because the sails are set at an angle to the wind instead of straight ahead. A sloop can be classified as a cutter or catamaran boat, depending on the style and number of foresails.
