Caught Red-handed
As Jackie walked toward the restroom, the waitress saw her opportunity. She quickly scribbled something on the back of the bill and returned to their table, handing it discreetly to Tom with a knowing look. Jackie returned just in time to see him reading something with an unreadable expression on his face. The sight unsettled her.
Her heart dropped when she saw him take out his phone and snap a photo of the note. Jackie’s stomach twisted with doubt and betrayal. Why would he want to keep it? Was there something inappropriate written there? The gesture made her feel as if her trust was slipping through her fingers.
