Vet’s Alarming Reaction
Confused and frightened, Martha stared at George, the veterinarian. “What do you mean it’s not a snake?” she asked, tightening her grip on the glass. The creature underneath wriggled more aggressively, and Martha’s hand shook slightly as she tried to keep it from escaping. She could feel the movement through the glass, making her pulse race.
George seemed unsettled, clearly struggling to find the right words. After a long pause, he turned without answering and pulled out his phone. “Keep your hand there,” he said abruptly, already walking toward the door. “Don’t let it move—I need to call someone immediately.”
